God isn’t in your prayers, but in the people praying for us.
Last night, as I was closing up the house and heading for bed I felt a little anxious. Today is the birthday of a bestie and I knew it was going to be a hard one for her. I stopped and sat outside our bedroom to take in the cool evening air and the sounds around me.
I heard a flock of guinea fowl in the trees close-ish to the house, I guess putting themselves to bed too; checking in with each other.
Not long after that I heard jackals calling; it sounded like they were far from each other but sound carries — I thought that they too were checking in:
How was your day?
Are you ok?
Did we all make it?
Remember we’re in this together
I do the same in my house (I don’t chat to the Guinea Fowl and Jackals but you know what I mean!)
I check in with my crew, 2 humans, 5 dogs, 4 cats. Then out a little further out 2 humans and 2 dogs. Then further more 4 humans. Then out a bit more 6 horses.
Further still to my sister and her home; Skye’s family and their homes; and then my friends homes and on it goes.
And I think that’s what we do, check in with each other when we can and how we can. And that makes all the difference, to me anyhow. I hope you’re all ok in whatever measure of means that looks like.
I love you, bye.
