Road Trips and Roads Less Travelled
Do you want to go on a road trip to Cape Town, she asked me. I need to finish setting up the office and I thought we could make a weekend of it.
Aghast I was like ‘No, why can’t we just fly and you ship the stuff?” And for a moment I really believed that. Then I rethought — as I have become want to do since meeting Skye.
Yes, I said, that would be lovely. What a great idea.
Of course the actual ‘go button’ was only pressed days before we drove out; another thing I’m learning to lean into with my wife — as her daughter said at our wedding; I’m a go with the flow kind of person as long as I know what time the flow is starting and where we are going!
In short, which I’m not except in height…
I’ve taken a few road trips — in more ways than one — since we met and all of them have led down roads less travelled, views more spectacular and memories more memorable than I ever thought I would hope to find.
My life with Skye has been years of yes’s and I’m eternally grateful that the Universe gave me what I asked for, even though I didn’t know this was what I was asking for.
