Stop and stare

I’ve known him most of his life, Sam I mean. He came crashing into my life when my ex picked him because he was the spunkiest and had a weird ‘mowhawk’ thing going on!

For years he was chaotic (perhaps a reflection of life, then) and when said ex and I parted ways the ‘divorce contract’ said that once he (my ex) settled Sam would relocate.

I have spent the best part of every day, for the last ‘insert number of years’ thanking my lucky stars that the relocation never happened.

This evening, I started to walk downstairs and I saw this curious creature taking in his sunset (he’s now blind as a result of diabetes) but there he is taking in the end of the day; head up, listening, breathing and being.

So I joined him. Its amazing what you can hear and feel when you just stop and stare — irrespective of what you (can) see.

Dear God my crew save me, mostly from myself, every day and this dog has it all going on.

Stop and stare my loves. We are so bloody lucky to be here.

I love you, bye.
